Visiting Family in Ohio
We left for Ohio on Sunday, November 20th. We figured an eight hour trip with two little ones would be difficult, but we were willing to give it a try. They did quite well! We did stop in Corbin, Kentucky Sunday evening at eight p.m. for the night. Everyone was tired and the hotel had a heated pool. This could not have pleased Ella Harper more. We arrived in Wilmington, Ohio on Monday afternoon and settled into our hotel.
Then it was off to visit Grandpa Jack and Great Aunt Barb, who was in from Nantucket. We left on Tuesday morning and went to Greenville Ohio to visit Grandma's Grandma (Alice Belle Clark), the girls' great-great grandma who is 93! She is doing quite well and really enjoyed our visit. Caroline sat in her lap and Ella Harper drew her a dozen pictures while we visited.
We also visited Grandma's aunt Norma Jean, her uncle Bill and his wife Delores, and Grandma's aunt Judy and her husband Doug. We had a long day and drove back to Wilmington after dinner. For all of that traveling though the girls did fine. Caroline did not nap, but Ella Harper sure did! Isn't that the way it always is?
We awoke on Wednesday in Wilmington to SNOW! We were so excited because in South Carolina we hardly ever get snow. So of course we bundled up to rush out to play in it. It was Caroline's first snow, and the neat thing is that Ella Harper's first snow was in November of 2002 in Ohio as well.
We went over to Grandpa Jack's and cousins Tony, Joel, and Chase came over. We went sledding down the hill and built a snowman. I think in building the snowman we used up all of the snow in Grandpa's yard, but that was okay as Joel said, "We get snow all the time!"
On Thanksgiving, Grandma, Aunt Barb, Aunt Liz, Aunt Linda, and Grandpa Jack all cooked. (Mommy pulled dish duty) We had a wonderful dinner and had lots to be thankful for. Caroline played and crawled around the house. Ella Harper and Chase could not get enough of Color Wonder coloring. Thanksgiving day the high was 16 degrees. We went for a walk and Ella Harper surprised us with "I am so freakin cold!" We aren't sure where she picked that one up. We took lots of pictures and enjoyed our time together as a family. We left for home Friday morning and arrived home late Friday night.
